ISO 14001 registration for KETM, KENWOOD's overseas audio manufacturing plant in Malaysia KENWOOD Electronics Technologies (M) SDN, BHD - known as KETM - has achieved registration for ISO 14001, the international standard for Environmental System Management (EMS). KETM is the Malaysian manufacturing subsidiary of KENWOOD Corporation (President: Makoto Oka; Head Office: Tokyo, Shibuya), and currently one of KENWOOD's major facilities for home audio and car audio products.
This achievement of the Malaysian manufacturing subsidiary represents a first for KENWOOD's overseas facilities. Preparations for ISO 14001 registration began at the plant in January 1998, and, thanks to the unstinting efforts of the entire KETM workforce, they succeeded in achieving their goal in just one year. As of 1 January 1999, there are only about 80 enterprises in Malaysia that have achieved ISO 14001 registration. KENWOOD's subsidiary is thus one of the forerunners in this respect.
KENWOOD's Head Office and its other subsidiaries are now all engaged in preparations for ISO 14001 registration.
KENWOOD (Mexico) was established in August 1994 as KENWOOD's overseas manufacturing subsidiary in Mexico. It is currently focusing on the manufacture of car audio amplifiers for export throughout the world, and also of car audio receivers for the North American market.
