Product planning overview |
The global amateur radio equipment market is estimated to be worth 16 to 17 billion yen today. The FM mobile transceiver segment, in which the dual band type once considered a luxury model has been gaining market share every year due to intensified competition, accounted for about just over 50% of the amateur radio equipment market in value on a global basis and for almost 100% in both volume and value in Japan in FY2006.
The TM-V71 Series has achieved the highest performance and best operability ever. For example, it features enhanced basic functions, such as 1,000 memory channels, vertical reversal of the front panel, compatibility with 50W transmission output. It also provides specialized functionality for EchoLink, which is highly popular among users of the VoIP radio systems that have gained widespread attention as an exciting new field of amateur radio applications.
EchoLink is VoIP radio system that allows amateur radio operators around the world to communicate with each other by relaying voice over radio equipment to the Internet, similar to the method used for voice chatting over personal computers. Users can call specific stations specified with DTMF codes from the radio station side, or can control the program themselves. This system has been adopted by many users worldwide since its development by K1RFD (Jonathan Taylor) of the U.S. in May 2002.
Equipped with specialized functionality for EchoLink, the TM-V71 Series has made it possible to communicate with users around the world via the Internet using an FM mobile transceiver, without requiring complicated settings.
KENWOOD aims to further enhance its presence in the field of ”wireless radio (= communication)” while providing new usage scenarios and new enjoyment to users by merging state of the art technologies with its know-how and technologies in the amateur radio field. |
