KENWOOD Corporation (President and CEO: Kazuo Shiohata; Head Office: Hachioji, Tokyo) announces that its Digital Land Mobile Radio System supported for the G8 Hokkaido, Japan Summit (conference of major industrialized nations) between July 7 and 9, 2008 as a communication system for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
KENWOOD’s Digital Land Mobile Radio System used by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs included the NEXEDGE™ series of Digital Land Mobile Radio products, newly developed for the Business & Industry market in North America and launched in December 2007.
The NEXEDGE™ series of Digital Land Mobile Radio products enables direct communication via Push-to-talk, the same function as conventional radio products, but also unique digital functions including “secure voice”, “noiseless communications”, “enhancement of data communications” and “wide-area coverage through the use of IP networks” and “multi-channel access using multiple repeaters”.
Positioning Digital Land Mobile Radio products for the Business & Industry market in North America as a core strategy, KENWOOD is focusing on the NEXEDGE™ series and the joint establishment with radio equipment and measuring instrument manufacturers to standardize for the Digital Land Mobile Radio System based on the technical specifications of NEXEDGE™.
With the convenience and reliability of the NEXEDGE™ series excelling during the G8-summit, KENWOOD will further enhance the Land Mobile Radio business and implement medium- to long-term growth strategies for this new digital technology. |
