“Our Music, Your Life.”
In recent years, home audio needs have changed concurrently with the popularization of flat-panel televisions. This means that it has become necessary for home audio systems to not only provide superior acoustic quality but also combine this performance with interior functionality to become more like flat-panel televisions that require minimal space. Additionally, digital media such as iPods, mobile phones, and SD cards are becoming more popular, and this has resulted correspondingly in diversifying how users can enjoy music.
Since its establishment, KENWOOD has strived to achieve superior sound quality based on its concept of faithfully reproducing the original source. At present, the company is trying to realize even higher quality audio playback by both keeping in touch with recent changes in the marketplace and by unifying traditional audio technologies and expertise, with the latest in digital technologies.
Therefore, KENWOOD’s home electronics exhibit will include the following: A new model in the K-series Compact Hi-Fi System line-up delivering outstanding excellent sound quality, a C-series Compact Hi-Fi System making listening to music more pleasurable, and a new AV Control Centre enabling enjoyment of the high resolution and high sound quality of video content on large-screen televisions and home theatre systems. What’s more, KENWOOD's car electronics exhibit will focus on products that won 2009-2010 EISA Awards for in-car electronics, to emphasise how all consumers can enhance their lifestyles through music.
The K-series, which provides audio playback quality at the top of its class, combines the latest digital technologies with KENWOOD’s well-established analogue sound technologies and expertise to create CD sound reproduction as faithful as possible to the original source. IFA 2009 will provide a superb opportunity for consumers to discover products such as these that are closely suited to their lifestyles.
Today’s consumers have many ways to enjoy music including CDs and digital audio players (DAPs) such as iPods, PCs, mobile phones, and SD cards, leading to an increase in the demand for products that allow them to enjoy high-quality sounds both inside of the home and outdoors. With this in mind, KENWOOD will be exhibiting a new line-up that offers a wealth of functions to better match music preferences of consumers with the product design as well as products with thinner, more compact dimensions that facilitate wall-mounting and other versatile installation options.
Together with the proliferation of high-definition, large-sized LCD and plasma televisions, there is an increasing demand for high-resolution audio playback with ample levels of presence. In light of this, KENWOOD will introduce new AV Control Centre models capable of integrating even entry-level HDMI products to enable enjoyment of high-definition, high sound-quality AV content on large-screen televisions and in home theatre systems.
In the field of audio components, KENWOOD will introduce a product that combines a glass-stand speaker system manufactured by ODELIC Co., Ltd. with sound technology provided by KENWOOD that integrates light and sounds into a beautiful presentation on the K-series. This product is part of KENWOOD's concept of creating new audio lifestyles and personal space.
KENWOOD will be exhibiting KENWOOD Design Activity where 3 prototypes will be displayed: “Squeezophone360” the light speaker designed in collaboration with internationally renowned designer Claudio Colucci and two other speakers. The wireless audio system and layout-free “Hibachi” and the entertainment concept “Hug” where music can be perceived by the whole body through vibrations.

In order to meet the needs of the European market, which has seen the highest proliferation of mobile phones supporting Bluetooth, KENWOOD has introduced head units with built-in Bluetooth as well as external Bluetooth modules. And this year’s release of more mobile phone models with built-in Bluetooth has resulted in an extensive line-up of Bluetooth-enabled head units. Additionally, KENWOOD is working towards further improving connectivity with DAPs such as iPods and other large-capacity recordable media. The company is also aiming to achieve a marked improvement in its product line-up through measures such as the inclusion of USB connection terminals for products in the volume-priced class, and by incorporating music search functions to enable the rapid search for large quantities of music content in all models. These measures are designed to create an intuitive operating environment unique to KENWOOD and its full line-up available this spring will be exhibited at IFA 2009, and we hope that it will attract significant interest from consumers.
Car navigation systems incorporating AV functionality have seen healthy sales since their release in 2007, and thanks to advanced audio features such as 5.1 channel DSP as well as through connection to DAPs such as iPods, these systems are now capable of delivering remarkable sound quality. And these new models aim to provide improved navigation functionality as well as superb sound quality as is made evident by the DNX9240BT, which won EISA Award “EUROPEAN IN-CAR NAVI-MEDIA SYSTEM 2009-2010” thanks to its use of a wide-VGA screen to display high-resolution content, and incorporation of a voice recognition control function to enable voice control of AV functions, Bluetooth, and navigation operations. These features have created an all-in-one car entertainment system that combines high sound quality, high resolution, and high functionality. KENWOOD will also be introducing a high-end model that incorporates a 7-inch electric panel capable of reverse tilt (where the top of the panel can be angled towards the user), and a standard model with a fixed, 6.1 inch panel.
KENWOOD is the only dedicated audio manufacturer involved in the production of home electronics, car electronics, and communications (transceivers) components, striving to create products that can effortlessly provide seamless entertainment to ensure top-class audio quality whether outdoors, at home, or in a car. And it is hoped that this will make consumers feel a sense of wonder and be impressed by the name of KENWOOD.
