Launch for NEXEDGE® New Conventional Base-Repeater NXR-710/810

Kanagawa, Japan, December 18, 2009 — KENWOOD Corporation has announced that it is adding two new repeater/base station products for its NEXEDGE® digital radio systems, initially launched in December 2007 in the North American market.

Rationale and outline

Ever since its establishment, KENWOOD has been developing its communications business. By leveraging its unique high-frequency technologies and advanced expertise, the company has now won the second largest share of the global market for professional transceivers, its core products.

KENWOOD’s NEXEDGE® digital radio systems were launched in December 2007, and offer distinct benefits over analog with an increased effective coverage area, advanced digital voice audio, inherent secure voice, group and individual calling features, GPS location, and government-friendly spectrum efficiency as well as a soft migration path from legacy analog.

NEXEDGE® system have since been successfully deployed in numerous commercial radio services, hospitality and sporting/entertainment complexes, heavy manufacturing and refining facilities, utility companies, technology campuses and multi-agency public safety systems. Many large institutional customers have set up NEXEDGE® multi-channel trunked systems and wide area networks using the flagship NXR-700/800 IP-connective core units. The NXR-710/810 will add an entry-level solution for those customers who only need basic conventional operation, though more software-driven options will be available for these models in the near future.

KENWOOD has been actively introducing NEXEDGE® systems worldwide to commercial and private operators who want the advantages of digital technology, but with traditional mandatory command and control.
