KENWOOD Corporation (KENWOOD), an operating company of the JVC KENWOOD Group, is pleased to announce that KENWOOD’s NEXEDGE® professional digital radio system was provided by Mobile Business Communications Ltd. (MBC), a Canadian dealer of radio systems, and KENWOOD Electronics Canada Inc. for use at the G8 Summit held in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada on June 25 and 26, and at the G20 Summit held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on June 26 and 27, which contributed to the management of the Summits.
The NEXEDGE® series used at the Summit has been adopted in North America by customers ranging from public service organizations to railroad companies, electric power companies, and private-sector companies, as well as specialized mobile radio (SMR) operators who provide proprietary wireless communication networks. NEXEDGE® is a growing product category for KENWOOD Corporation with demand and sales increasing rapidly.
NEXEDGE® was adopted by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade through MBC for its features and wide area coverage that provided communication between Toronto Pearson International Airport and the G8 venue (distance: approx. 222 km), and between the G8 venue and the G20 venue (distance: approx. 239 km); that enabled 600 staff members divided into 26 talk groups to communicate with each other within their group; and, that enabled simultaneous transmission of instructions and messages to all users in the event of an emergency.
Having demonstrated the convenience and reliability of the NEXEDGE® professional digital radio system at summit in Canada followed by Hokkaido Toyako Summit in Japan in July 2008, we will continue to concentrate on expanding sales of the series around the world. We will also qualitatively enhance our business centering on wireless radio terminals and system solutions to develop the foundations for new breakthroughs.
